This report is read out on 8th February 2013 at the 27th Annual Conference for Teacher Education (CTE) India at Dibrugarh University (Assam)

Dear Friends,

It is proud moment to read out the annual report of Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter (CTE) as this Chapter (CTE) as this Chapter has the blessings of the most revered President of CTE Late Dr. Gulab Chourasia in whose foot prints, guidelines and directions, we have been marching ahead and touching new milestones. And now, we are very diligently guided by out National President Dr. Dev Raj Vij Ji and Secretary General Nilima Bhagbati Jee who spare no pains in uplifting the cause and objectives of Council for Teacher Education (CTE) not only the length and breadth of India put also in opening Chapters in Nepal, Bangladesh, Manipur, Andeman and Nicobar and U.S.A.

Panjab Chapter takes pride in saying that our National President CTE and Secretary General, CTE get the status of becoming the International Secretary General respectively of indo-US Council for Teacher Education. And to adore the Executive Body of Indo US CTE, Dr (Mrs.) Satinder Dhillon has been taken as international Vice President and Mr. S.P. Khanna as Co-ordinator. Three persons of into US CTE are from Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter. The patron Principal, Balbir Singh (U.S.A.) is also from Panjab.

We have every reason to feet proud that three Annual Conferences of CTE were held in Panjab.

  1. In 1996 DAV College of Education for women, Amritsar.
  2. In 2009 Satyam College of Education Moga (Punjab)
  3. In 2010 Silver Jubilee Conference was held at D.S. Gurukul College of Education, Derabassi, Distt. Mohali. Friends, we are the first to publish a book on ‘Elementary Teacher Education in Panjab’ with the efforts of Dr. D.R. Vij, the then Present of Panjab CTE and on the motivation of lake Dr. Gulab Chaurasia anther of Panjab CTE and on the motivation of Lake Dr. Gulab Chaurasia another book in Panjabi version of ‘Teacher Education in 21st Century’ was published for the benefit of teachers and teacher educators. And we are the first to have exchanged Teacher Mission delegates with Assam Chapter. These are the memorable moments upholding the objectives of CTE. Recently, in November 2012, Dr. Prem Khati, the President of CTE Nepal visited Panjab on a goodwill tour and interacted with students and teacher educators in DAV Chandigarh, BCM College of Education Ludhiana, DIPS College of Education DHILWAN (Kapurthala ). Sahitya Kalamanch Jalandhar honoured him with an award. A visit to the Wagah border to watch ‘the Retreat Ceremony ’ pleased him the most. Our National Present Dr. D.R. Vaj accompanied Dr. Prem Khatri at all places. The membership of CTE is a bit difficult task. In 2001, at the inception of this Chapter we has only 155 members. In the enrolment, I feel highly debited to the members of executive Body who have extended their willing support and good will in touching a new marlstone of crossing 100 life membership including 90 Life Institutional Members. Its is a mater of great pleasure for all of us and 1 congratulate all the friends here.
